Deputy Transport Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has reiterated government’s commitment to ensure effective implementation of the various IMO instruments as it will keep the sector at par with developments in the maritime space.
The minister, who was addressing students and staff of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) during the official visit of the IMO Secretary-General, Kitack Lim, also indicated his ministry’s resolve to facilitate the delivery of efficient maritime services in the country
He said: “The Ghana Maritime Authority will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry to ensure high standards in the training of seafarers and to promote decent working conditions in the sector.”
He added: “Ghana will support the IMO and its allies to thrive for it to continue supporting the efficient delivery of maritime services.”
With regards to the wellbeing of trained seafarers, the minister assured that his outfit will ensure that the Ghanaian seafarer remains relevant in both the domestic and global blue economy.
