The Ghana Shippers Authority in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has organized an Exporters Forum in Takoradi to address challenges confronting exporters in their businesses in order to boost the export trade through the Port of Takoradi.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Benonita Bismarck, in a speech read on her behalf, said the economic growth of every country is very crucial to its national development and that growing the economy has become the target of most governments in the developing world.
“The government’s policy aims to transform structure of the economy from one that is dependent on production and export of raw materials to a value-added industrialized economy driven by the private sector,” she stated.
Ms. Bismarck also indicated that the GSA has intensified its collaborations with the GEPA by not only serving on the National Export Strategy Committee but by holding seminars and exhibitions in Accra and other regions.
The Takoradi Branch Manager of GEPA, Ursula Tawiah, stated that her outfit is undertaking some activities to boost Ghana’s exports to the international market.
Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of Takoradi Port, Peter Amoo-Bediako, assured that the Port will continue to create an enabling environment for the export trade to thrive.
