The Port of Takoradi has chalked another success in its vision to be the dominant oil and gas services hub for the West African sub-region.
This is because Belmet 7, an oil and gas logistics fabrication company based in the Port of Takoradi, delivering 7 suction piles, topside FPSO module, pigging skid and a hang off platform.
The pigging skid component of the project which regulates the flow and cleaning of pipelines, is the first ever topside FPSO module that has been wholly manufactured in Ghana.
Belmet 7 was subcontracted by Subsea 7, who were originally contracted by Tullow to design, fabricate, install and integrate an Oil Offloading System, for Tullow in 2018.
This was in an effort to rectify the turret bearing failure which affected offloading capacity of FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, a floating production storage and offloading vessel operating in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of Ghana.
Peter Amo-Bediako, Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the Port of Takoradi, said the strategic collaboration with such oil and gas service providers, like Belmet 7 go a long way to create the enabling environment for the Port of Takoradi to fully realize its oil and gas ambitions.
“It positions Takoradi to attract more oil and gas companies into our enclave, so that logistically we can cost efficiently support the oil and gas production not only in Ghana but also the whole of West Africa,” he said.
