The Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) has recommended the adoption of a single access document for stakeholders involved in the cargo clearance process at the port.
The document, which could precede planned integration of its port community system (PCS) to the single window project, would eliminate bottlenecks militating against seamless clearance of goods.
According to Nigeria’s Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, the use of a single document would remove barriers to the operations of the service and to trade.
“What we try to present here today is not just to remove barriers to Customs processes, it is how to remove barriers to trade.
“Trade is very significant for every nation; the success and development of a nation depends on how to manage trade,” he said in a speech made in his behalf.
