The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has teamed up with the Rotary Club of Tema Meridian for the renovation of the TMA Maternity Home to provide a more conducive environment for nursing mothers who visit the facility.
The gesture was the authority’s way helping to elevate the standard the facility to provide comfort and convenience to nursing mothers.
Hitherto, the inadequate shelter at the Maternity Home exposed nursing mothers to the harsh weather conditions.
Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) at the TMA Maternity Home, during the commissioning of the renovated health facility, said the gesture would go a long way to help the nurses provide quality health care to clients who visit the facility.
President of the Rotary Club of Tema Meridian, Philip Gebu lauded the GPHA for heeding to the call to improve the health facility.
“We are very grateful to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to deciding to sponsor this project,” he said.
Assistant Governor of Rotary Club, William Ofori, assured that the humanitarian group will continue to leverage on available resources to make lasting impacts on the society.
He encouraged the custodians of the facility to exercise high maintenance of the facility as they continue to seek for further improvement.
Principal Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer of GPHA, Samuel Agyemang, stated that the renovation of the TMA Maternity Home falls within GPHA’s corporate social objectives in health care, hence, the support.
“When Rotary approached about two years ago, we decided that because we share common objectives so we won’t just let them do it by themselves, we wanted to join hands to be able to do this together. That is how come to see this today. We assure them that this is not going to be the last,” he said.
