The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has organised a webinar meeting with stakeholders in the logistics chain of cargo exports at the Kotaka International Airport (KIA) cargo village.
The meeting was a follow up on the Export Forum which was held in September 2020.
Mrs Naa Densua Arteetey Head of Shippers Service and Trade Facilitation at the GSA who chaired the meeting expressed her appreciation to stakeholders for their level of commitment in collaborating with her outfit to make the export process seamless at the Airport.
She said the Authority followed up on the issues discussed at the last exporter’s forum and conducted a survey on the transport and logistics requirements for perishable goods at the KIA.
The survey, she said revealed that there were no standard operating systems to guide exporters in acquiring the necessary documentation to meet the international standard for their goods.
Also, stakeholders mandated to be present at the KIA for export shipments have no desk to assist exporters.
The meeting agreed that it was important for stakeholders involved in the export process to have a joint inspection of export shipments as it is being done for import.
Representatives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Standards Authority, Food and Drugs Authority and Ghana Agriculture Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting. Others included the Narcotics Control Board and Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Department.
