The Staff Union of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has congratulated the CEO of the Authority, Ms. Benonita Bismarck, for winning the 2018 Outstanding Woman CEO Award in the shipping and logistics sector at the 9th edition of the Ghana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards (GECEA) Gala Dinner held on May 4, 2019 in Accra.
Ms. Bismarck was h0noured by the organisers of the award, the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), for demonstrating corporate vision, business excellence, innovation, strategic leadership and growth in the shipping and logistics industry in Ghana.
In a statement on behalf of the Staff Union by its Chairman, Mr. Abdul Haki Bashiru-Dine, he assured the CEO of the workers’ unwavering support and cooperation as she leads the GSA to advance the cause of shippers by protecting and promoting their interests in Ghana’s maritime industry.
He added that the Award has inspired all staff to work harder for the attainment of the organisation’s corporate goals.
Under the leadership of Ms. Bismarck, the GSA led a nationwide sensitisation campaign, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by educating shippers on the implementation of the Paperless Port System in Ghana’s ports and also raised awareness on ways to avoid the payment of demurrage.
She also, among other laudable initiatives, led the GSA to sign a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali Shippers’ Councils to facilitate transit trade between Ghana and the three landlocked countries.
